Sistine ChapelPrincipal chapel of the Vatican Rome. It was begun by Pope Sextus IV in 1473, and is famous for the paintings which cover its walls and vault, notably those by Michelangelo including The Creation, The Deluge and The Last Judgement, and also masterpieces by Botticelli, Perugino and Pinturicchio. The voting of the cardinals at the election of a new pope takes place in the Sistine Chapel.
