Shore, Janed. circa 1527Mistress of Edward IV, born in London, was the daughter of a mercer and the wife of a goldsmith. She became Edward's mistress c. 1470. After the King's death she was accused by Richard III of sorcery and compelled to do penance (1483). She died in poverty.
