Baldwin II, du Bourg, Count of Edessa and King of Jerusalemd. 1131He succeeded his cousin, Baldwin I, and reigned in Jerusalem from 1181 to 1131. During his reign Tyre was taken (1124), and the military and religious orders of the Templars and Hospitaliers were instituted for the defence of the Holy Land. He renounced the throne in favour of his son-in-law, Fulk of Anjou, and retired to the monastery of the Holy Sepulchre.
