Bohemond Ib. circa 1058; d. 1111Prince of Antioch, eldest son of Robert Guiscard, distinguished himself in the war against the Emperor of Byzantium in 1081. He was excluded from the throne of Apulia by his brother Roger, and took part in the First Crusade. After the capture of Antioch (1098) he established himself there as prince. He was, however, imprisoned by the Turks in 1100, but after three years captivity returned to Europe and renewed the war against Alexius. He married a daughter of Philip of France, and spent the rest of his life in Apulia.
