TraceryThe structural and ornamental stonework, principally in the upper parts of a Gothic window. The earliest forms were known as Plate Tracery, the effect being that of solid stone pierced with shapes filled with glass. The later form is known as Bar Tracery where the stone is sculpted into architecturally pleasing shapes which enclose the intervening glass within manageable sizes.
